Volkswagen of America sold 8.6 percent more vehicles in the first eleven months of 2006 than during the same period in 2005. A total of 215,198 vehicles were delivered to customers on the US market from January to November this year. November sales ran at 17,082 units, 5.3 percent fewer than the previous year. This decline is due primarily to the strong baseline effects of the prior-year month. At this stage in 2005, the launch of the new Jetta and Passat models and correspondingly high sales marked the turning point in the US sales situation.
With deliveries to customers running at 93,078 after eleven months (7,188 units in November), the new Jetta is the top-selling model on the US market, followed by the new Passat with 50,640 vehicles sold (4,176 in November) and the New Beetle including the convertible with 33,175 deliveries to customers (1,767 in November).
After four months on the US market, the Volkswagen Eos, the new convertible-coupé, already reported sales of 2,711 units, with 639 new sales in November.
