With the launch of the Grand Theft Auto IV set for April 29, it’s bound to be the biggest game to hit the Xbox all year. And to honor the event, Xbox put together a limited edition GTA IV Xbox 360 console. Only 500 will be available worldwide, with half of them coming to North America. The catch is, you can't buy one...
The special console comes packaged with an Xbox case containing the full line-up of Xbox accessories, including a wireless receiver, headset, quick charger, remote control and a game controller with a full keyboard for text messaging.
And while collectors are scrambling to get their hands on one of these unique consoles, we were lucky enough to receive one after they heard we spend every night battling Germans and terrorists in the Call of Duty games. In keeping with this, they invited us to infiltrate the hideout of Mister Cartoon – the legendary tattoo and cultural artist – in Downtown Los Angeles to collect our console.
We were tempted to steal a car and run from the police to stay true to the theme of Grand Theft Auto, but instead we took our own car…
Mister Cartoon’s lair houses an incredible mix of art and cars, featuring several lowriders from his collection. We even snuck into his tattoo parlor where many of the big names got inked. His building was chosen because Mr Cartoon was involved in the previous GTA: San Andreas, which was based around LA.
So with our GTA IV themed Xbox 360 Elite console in hand, thanks to Mister Cartoon, Estevan Oriol and SA Studios Global, we headed home to find more terrorists on Xbox Live and keep order in the virtual world. However, everything will change in a month when GTA IV hits the streets and all we’ll care about is seeing how much havoc we can wreak!
