The E36 is campaigned by Paul Vlasblom of the Netherlands. He’s started racing Porsche and BMWs and ’99 and even recorded some victories in the Porsche Series and BMW Cup in ’02. Paul didn’t begin drifting professionally until ’03 where he entered the Autovisie DriftChallenge with an E30 finishing 11th. In ’05, Paul joined D1 with his Touring E36 and has been placing in several top three finishes since. This year at the Red Bull Drift Championships in Long Beach will be his first time competing on US soil.
The second BMW competitor is Remmo Niezen of Maassluis (Western Netherlands). In ’00, Remmo earned his racing license and started in ’01 competing in the BMW touring car championships – he won the first year! In ’02, he won his second championship. His drifting career started in ’05 with a BMW M5. Since then, he’s won several drifting series including Dutch, Belgium and German.
