It’s one of the toughest decisions to make at SEMA but it’s a question we all ask: what was the best car at the SEMA show this year? Our favorite was VW’s Passat CC concept car built by VW’s design studio and APR. But there was another car that deserves an honorable mention, this ’09 Tetsu GTR.
Showcased in the center of the Toyo Tire booth, the Tetsu GTR is based off the Bentley Continental GT, but transformed by Japanese tuner ASI. There will be 29 of these cars produced and this is the first and most extravagant concept of the Tetsu GTR estimated to be worth over $3.5 million. The production cars will be priced significantly less but will only include selected body work and accessories.

The exterior screams in your face thanks to an extravagant widebody conversion with enlarged front and rear fenders, updated bumpers and side skirts. On the front bumper, you’ll notice an enormous front grille, signature to the ASI product line. Plus, there’s an LED light conversion based off the Audi-style daytime running lights. Also up front, there is a hood made of dry carbon as well as a front splitter. Moving to the rear, the trunk lid is also constructed of dry carbon as is the rear wing. Still hungry for more? The roof is also overlayed with the same dry carbon to continue the theme. There are areas of the car with artwork painted on which is done by world famous artist Nakamura Tetsuei. All this artwork is hand-painted on using 24k gold and natural pigments. The interior features more carbon accents plus reupholstery in a complex silk weaving. The material is sourced from Kyoto, Japan and is the same material used in making kimonos. Next, you’ll notice the wheels which are 22x9.5” front and 22x10.5” rear ASI wheels. They feature a 24k gold strip which was layed on to match the accents on the exterior and interior. The wheels are of course wrapped in Toyo’s best tires using 295/25-22 T1Rs. Finally, the engine came next. Factory-equipped with a 6.0 liter twin-turbo W12, ASI claims to have bumped horsepower from the stock 552hp to 800hp using larger turbochargers, intake, exhaust, coolant system and software tuning.
