Yes, the biggest car in BMW’s lineup is back with an even longer wheelbase and more grunt under the hood. The 750i still looks similar to the previous-gen 7-Series, but visually it has more sportiness with a new silhouette, larger and more vertical kidney grilles and a wider stance.
The engine is what really sets the vehicle apart in the lineup. It uses the same 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 from the X6 to deliver 400hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. This goes hand in hand with a new weight-efficient construction to keep the car nimble and equal. The chassis features load-bearing structures, aluminum roof, doors, hood and front fenders, aluminum front spring towers, aluminum block engine and aluminum differential housing.
The suspension is also reengineered to give a more comfortable ride with better handling. The new 750i is the first passenger car to use a multi-link double-wishbone front suspension. Self-leveling air suspension is standard and a rack-and-pinion steering with variable ration and hydraulic power ensures the best driving experience.
There are plenty more features in the new BMW 750i and we’ve also driven the car first in Europe. Stay tuned for our full report in the February ’09 issue of eurotuner.
