The Global Motorsports Group, better known as GMG, held its second open house event at its Santa Ana, CA workshops. On display were a number of race-prepared Porsches, including its the new World Challenge Speed GT Porsche racecars. The shop also showed off its new dyno cell.
Although official reports stated 600 people turned up, they definitely weren’t present during the hours we attended. However, visitors were treated to an avenue of vendors including BBS, Brembo, Sparco and other top-end component manufacturers.
However, it was exotic cars that really grabbed the attention, with everything from a Ferrari F40 to Carrera GT, Mercedes SLR and Aston Martins to drool over. The most numerous marque was Porsche, represented by the racers and with customer street cars spilling out of the parking areas.
Equally appealing were the assortment of E36 BMW M3s and B5 Audi S4s that were sprinkled into the mix. We even spotted a genuine B5 Audi RS4 in the workshop.
With an unbelievable facility, the GMG open house made a pleasant diversion from Saturday duties. It’s definitely an event you should consider attending in the future if you’re a European performance car enthusiast. Not only was it a treat to look at these cars, but each offered its own symphony as they peeled-out on their way home!
