The fifteenth annual Waterfest kicked off with a bang today in Herndon, VA with Kreuzerfest. Once again, we teamed up with Volkswagen of America to start Kreuzerfest at their new headquarters. However; unlike last year, the building was finished allowing all the participants to take a quick tour through the headquarters’ showroom and a eat complimentary bagel and pastry breakfast in Volkswagen’s own cafeteria.
Over forty cars came out to attend including drivers from Florida, Illinois, Virginia and more.
We had the opportunity to cruise in the new Mk6 GTI with a 2.0T TSI borrowed from Volkswagen. VWoA also rolled out a few of its other new products including a Golf Plus, Sportwagen, turbocharged Mk5 R32 turbo and Jetta TDI Cup car.
This year’s cruise was trouble-free. There was some traffic along the way but every car stayed together, through a rest stop in Maryland and final finish at Englishtown Raceway Park.
Typically every year, Kreuzerfest participants are given a few laps around the track’s small road course but this year we weren’t given permission in time. In the end, we all had a good time and got to New Jersey safely. Now it’s time to gear up for the big show!
