We hope all of you enjoyed your Memorial Day weekend. It’s a good time to remember those who have passed away, but also a good time to get together with family and friends.
In the Volkswagen community, Memorial Day weekend did just that for R32 owners as 159 (new record) from up and down the West Coast gathered in Southern California for the annual GTG and track day. With major sponsors VWoA, VF-Engineering and HPA Motorsport, the event was well organized, planned and executed. Starting on Saturday, all R32 owners met at K1 Go-Karting in Ontario.
All Mk4 and Mk5 R32 enthusiasts lined up for an amazing photo op, enjoyed a day in the hot sun and even competed on the go-kart track. On Sunday, the track day ensued at California Speedway in Fontana. It didn’t matter whether you were a beginner or expert, everyone had fun as the R32s invaded the infield road course. There were five different run sessions and everyone had ample track time beginning from 8AM to 5PM.
At the end of the day, everyone left with a smile and were happy to share the weekend with their fellow R32 brethren. Stay tuned for our full report in an upcoming issue of et.
