BMW Motorrad expanded its F800 model series for 2009 with the F800R. The sporty roadster was designed for a high level of riding dynamics and maximum pleasure in the naked bikes segment. But it wasn’t just on public roads that the bike swiftly made a name for itself. The superb handling was demonstrated by four-times World and European Stunt-Riding Champion Chris Pfeiffer in both 2007 and 2008 on an F800S. It had been adapted to his needs and closely resembled the later F800R. Since the R model was introduced in November 2008, Pfeiffer has been riding it at international competitions and shows – on a version that is close to the production machine. During 2008, Pfeiffer took part in many stunt shows and contests and this year is equally busy. Chris Pfeiffer said: “No matter whether it’s about me as an individual, as a freestyle rider or as a racer: it’s always a question of being creative and showing the audience new and exciting tricks. It’s amazing when the crowd starts to cheer even before you’ve started. I really appreciate the great support provided by BMW, and for me the F 800 R is the perfect stunt motorcycle – as demonstrated by my recent success.”
This was enough reason for BMW Motorrad to mark Chris Pfeiffer’s success on the new F800R by bringing out a special model, the BMW F800R Chris Pfeiffer, closely resembling his competition bike. It has been fitted with elaborate paintwork, a special edition Akrapović muffler and features to enhance the sporty style. The 798cc liquid-cooled parallel twin with 4-valve technology remains unchanged, however. “The engine is loads of fun - I love its response even at low and medium engine speeds, as well as its wide rpm range, both when riding on the road and stunt riding. Then there is the perfect throttle response and sensitive controllability of the two-cylinder engine – something that’s absolutely imperative to perform spectacular stunts,” said Pfeiffer.

In its design, the F800R Chris Pfeiffer has multi-colored paint in the BMW Motorsport colors of Alpine White, Lupine Blue, Magma Red and Black silk matt contrast with the black drivetrain and swingarm; a white front wheel completes the sporty look. The standard, painted pillion passenger seat cover also reflects the machine’s sporty purpose. The fact it does not have a cockpit fairing serves to emphasize the purist character of this special model. In addition, it has Chris Pfeiffer’s signature on the central cover and sponsor stickers supplied with the bike and can be optionally applied. In terms of riding dynamics, the bike features a red rear spring strut to match the paint. Chris Pfeiffer himself is happy to confirm the chassis properties from his day-to-day contact with the F800R: “The fact that no changes were made to my competition version shows just how easy the F800R is to ride. I simply vary the tire pressure, depending on road conditions. That really says it all.” The European launch will be at the beginning of September 2009.
