At the same time as the unveiling of the Scirocco R at the Frankfurt Auto Show, VW has also announced a new interactive racing game. In it you drive the “Scirocco R 24 hour Challenge” through a series of difficult corners on an expansive landscape similar to the famous Nürburgring. The game is available to download free for the iPhone and iPod Touch from the Apple App store.
There are three different play modes – qualifying, 24 hour mode and multiplayer (via bluetooth). Extras include the genuine engine sound of the Scirocco R, different sound effects and the chance to customize your own Scirocco R with different exterior finishes.
The player can choose to control the car by touchscreen or by using the tilt sensor to provide the best possible intuitive driving.
The star of the racing game, the Scirocco R, is the most powerful production Scirocco ever built with 265hp. The racing game marks the second time VW has used this innovative form of marketing. In March, at the premiere of the new Polo, the racing game “Volkswagen Polo challenge” was presented; with more than 1.4 million downloads in four weeks, it conquered Apple App stores worldwide.
