Here at eurotuner, we're not just all about European cars but we also have an appreciation for all performance cars. Several years ago, we covered the Coronado Speed Festival and it returns this September. The event features fast-paced, thrilling auto racing and exhibitions for car enthusiasts of all ages at one of the most distinctive race track locations. Nowhere else can you see a variety of cars racing on a live runway used by the U.S. Navy.
This year, over 30,000 people are expected to pack the grandstands to view a spectator-friendly 1.7-mile course that is constructed in a matter of days on the runways and taxiways of Naval Air Station North Island. Car enthusiasts will be able to step back in time to enjoy auto racing’s rich history with tours of the racecar pits and speak with the drivers of these unique machines.

Fans are able to take a unique tour of the pits, see a variety of car exhibitions and view an impressive military vehicle display. But don’t fret if you aren’t a car junkie. The main purpose of the Coronado Speed Festival is to thank our men and women in uniform as the event is part of Fleet Week San Diego whose mission is to “pay tribute to our region’s servicemen and women.”
At the Coronado Speed Festival you will see top race cars from today & tomorrow including historic stock cars, as well as the restored classics from years past. Also planned are military flyovers, drifting exhibitions, car club corral, car show, Navy ship tours and more.
Don’t miss out on this annual celebration of speed. The Coronado Speed Festival offers something for everyone to enjoy so race on down to Naval Air Station, North Island on September 26-27 for the premiere racing event of the season. Ticket information is coming soon. This event is free for active duty military and their dependants. For more information please go to www.fleetweeksandiego.org/coronadospeedfestival
