Last week in glamorous Las Vegas, Nevada, it was SEMA week or what many people like to call it ‘hell week’. Four days of automotive madness with thousands of show cars and new products, plenty of interesting vendors, filled agendas with meetings, plus the wild nightlife of Sin City mixed in between. Yes, it was SEMA again and although it felt smaller than usual, it still drew over 100,000 people.
From the Euro side, there wasn’t a much to get excited about. Perhaps the most interesting cars came from the H&R Springs booth which displayed the only Mk6 VW GTI. The diesel hatch sported 20” OZ wheels and H&R’s ultra-low coilovers. Also in the booth was a VW CC, Evosport BMW M3 and Mercedes CLK Black Series.
Unfortunately, there was no real manufacturer backing at this year’s show for Euro enthusiasts like how VW or Mercedes have done in previous years. Hopefully 2010 will change.
Thankfully, plenty of Euros could be spotted around the venue. Club members from MFest brought a nice showing of 15+ M3s, M5s and M6s in one of the halls. In the Koni booth, the Forge Motorsport VW Scirocco stole plenty of hearts, as it was the first Mk3 Scirocco most people have witnessed.
But of course, the Domestic crowd had the largest presence with plenty of Camaros, Challengers and Mustangs. You couldn’t walk ten paces without spotting another modified version. We did notice the American muscle is beginning to follow several Euro trends. Stay tuned for our full show report in the upcoming February ’10 issue of eurotuner.
