Lamborghini Murcielago a little tame for you? Bugatti Veyron a little too ugly? Ferrari Enzo just not cutting-edge enough? Then how about the MIG-U1 from renowned German Porsche tuner, Gemballa?

Over the past 27 years, Uwe Gemballa has achieved a worldwide reputation for refining Porsche cars, and now the company from Leonberg near Stuttgart has taken on a new challenge. The automobile manufacturer has turned the most potent super-sportscar from Maranello, the Ferrari Enzo, into the Gemballa MIG-U1 – of which only 25 cars will be produced.

The core of the makeover is Gemballa’s re-engineered aerodynamic concept. Every piece has been manufactured in carbon fiber to combine the lowest weight with highest material strength.

The active aerodynamics mean the front spoiler lip generates an additional downforce of up to 77 lb on the front axle, according to the individual position. The gurney flap on the new rear spoiler can also generates up to 187 lb more downforce on the rear wheels. For optimal handling, the flaps lower when the car exceeds a speed of 75mph. However, all components of the aerodynamic kit contribute to the increased stability, including the new front skirt with spoiler lip, door extensions, rear diffuser and rear wing. And thanks to these additions, the MIG-U1 is wider by 3.5” at the front and 4” at the rear.

The air duct system of the MIG-U1 helps increase the power of the V12, while also providing cold air to the braking system. The outlets behind the wheels ensure the heated air does not accumulate. Moreover, the air inlets behind the doors and on the roof supply fresh air into engine compartment. And new exhaust ducts have been added in and on top of the rear apron. Their dimensions also allow the supply of an additional radiator.

For everyday use, optional electro-hydraulic height adjustment is available. By pushing a button, it is possible to lift the body 1.7” to drive over obstacles such as speed bumps. By pushing another button, or by reaching 850mph, the MIG-U1 lowers itself to its original height. Additionally, the adjustable sports suspension is equipped with ball-bearing bushings to significantly improve the handling.

The Gemballa GTR Racing forged wheels contribute both to the appearance and the performance of the car. The wheels are extremely light weight, reducing unsprung weight by 35 lb per corner. At the front, the 19x10” rims have 265/35 R19 tires, while the rear axle transfers power through 20x13” rims with 335/30 R20 wheels.

The engine of the Gemballa MIG-U1 works with optimized engine management and a special exhaust system. This combination allows output of 700hp. The four-pipe system with pneumatic flap control has sports catalysts and the tailpipes exit into the rear apron.

Inside, Gemballa devised a center  console, special seats and a sports steering wheel with its leather and ultra-suede combination. In fact, all interior components are lined with leather and ultra-suede, while a 7” touchscreen has been integrated to provide navigation, DVD changer and iPod connection. The 950-watt amplifier operates tweeters in the front, mid-range speakers in the doors and a subwoofer between the seats.

The price of the Gemballa MIG-U1 is undisclosed, but with only 25 being built, we can’t imagine it’ll be within the reach of most of us.
