In a previous blog posted on November 23, 2009 eurotuner exclusively revealed that Turner Motorsport would be running a BMW M6 in the Rolex GT class at the Daytona 24-hour race on on January 30-31, 2010. We also brought you exclusive photos from the car’s first secret test session.
The team has had phenomenal success with its touring car programs, first in the World Challenge Series and more recently the Grand AM GS and ST classes.
For 2010, in addition to building a brand new pair of E92 BMW M3s for the Grand AM GS class to compete alongside its existing E90 BMW 328i in the ST class, Turner Motorsport has developed this BMW M6 for the Rolex GT class.
To help ensure its success, Turner Motorsport has assembled a dream team of BMW drivers, including current BMW M3 GT2 ALMS pilots Bill Auberlein and Joey Hand alongside veteran BMW- and Nascar driver Boris Said.
The M6 GT employs a tubular Riley chassis, carbon fiber bodywork and a race-prepped, naturally-aspirated BMW M5 V8 motor. In this configuration, it’s hoped the Coupe will survive 24 of the toughest hours in motorsport.
Following the shakedown photos we previously showed, Turner Motorsport has now released a breathtaking, high-quality teaser video previewing its first attempt at the Daytona 24-hour race with footage from its official qualifying laps and behind-the-scenes. This footage will form part of a webumentary that will air in Spring 2010.
