ALPINESTARS ARMOR FOR BIKERS – STAY COOL AND PROTECTED

ALPINESTARS’ MOTORCYCLIST PROTECTION

For many motorcyclists, it’s important to look cool when riding. Leathers and helmets that match a bike’s color scheme are popular options, but all-black is the other way to go.
Equally important for me is to actually be cool and protected. During the Southern California summers, riding a motorcycle can become a test of enurdance, as you battle the heat and dehydration under layers of protective gear – and yes, we wear all the gear, all the time. Shorts and sneakers are simply a fast-track to plastic surgery skin grafts.
Over the years, I’ve tried many different methods to stay cool but protected, and have finally found some items that work…
My greatest find was a mesh jacket with armor. These textile jackets allow air to pass through, while the internal armor should keep you protected. However, I was always concerned about the quality of armor in my chosen jacket, and this is where Alpinestars first came to my rescue.

The Alpinestars Bionic 2 Protection Jacket is perfect for wearing under any jacket because it offers full protection for the chest as well as CE-certified GP elbow and shoulder armor and an articitulated CE back protector.
The armor is incorporated into a net jacket that allows air to pass through. It zips on at the front and has with a wide Velcro-fastened kidney belt around the waist to secure the bottom of the back protector. With various adjusters, all the armor is held in place, rather than being loose and liable to move in a fall.
Costing $229.95, you feel protected but stay cool under a summer jacket.

My next priority was feet. Wearing black Sidi boots in sunshine in proximity of the exhaust warms your feet to boiling point in no time.
Somebody recommended I try Alpinestars’ socks and I bought both the Road Racing and Summer socks to try. They use a silver thread and Coolmax fibers to wick away moisture and maintain a constant temperature while being both bacteria- and odor-resistant.
To be honest, I was skeptical, but what a revelation! It’s almost like you’re riding barefoot – your feet are neither hot, nor sweaty. These are the most comfortable socks ever, and even keep you warm in winter. Keeping the temperature of your extremities under control helps you concentrate on the ride and focus on the traffic around you.
They cost around $19.95 and are an essential purchase.

My final piece of Alpinestars underwear to date is the Comp Pro Shorts. At $49.95 I winced but shouldn’t have doubted them. They use stretch mesh construction to provide air circulation and have strategically placed foam padding. The fit is good and the comfort is excellent.
