Well, things just keep on keepin’ on around here. This last week showed me a couple different sides of the magazine from approaching deadlines to show coverage, and even a track day photo shoot.
I started off the week by continuing to work on my assignments for the upcoming issue. I was able to finish up my feature and get pretty far along with my other sections. It was a little bit of a struggle to come up with a title for the article, but with some help (and head butting) with Greg, Sam, and a couple others, we were able to decide on something. You’ll have to wait until the August issue to see what that was.
On Wednesday we met the Sport Rider crew at the Streets of Willow in Rosamond. They were testing out a couple new 600cc bikes from Yamaha and Kawasaki as well as BMW’s SS1000RR. They invited us, and our two 2010 M3’s to get a comparison between BMW’s top performance machines as well as get some images for their upcoming issue. It was pretty surprising to see the similarities as far as braking and turn points between the two, but damn was that bike fast. 130mph on the straights of such a small, twisty track is rediculous!
I worked on a couple more videos as well, like the Meyers Manx buggy we are featuring in the July issue. You can check out them out on our youtube channel here: www.youtube.com/eurotuner
To finish off the week, Greg, Sam, Bernice, and I took a trip on Saturday to Bimmerfest ’10 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. I was pretty impressed with some of the cars there. A favorite of mine was definitely Mert Contapay's widebody E39 M5. The lines are so clean and something about that purple just seems right on that car. You can actually check out Mert's feature in our upcoming August issue. Well, it's now crunch time for the next issue, so back to work.
PS: Chrome's are still rolling. We'll see how long I can get away with parking in the same lot. I'll keep an update every week for as long as I can.
