After bidding farewell to our ’08 BMW 135i project car, we were left empty for several months without a replacement. That wait is finally over… Introducing your new eurotuner project car – this breathtaking Interlagos blue ’11 M3 Competition Package ZCP.
For those unfamiliar with the ZCP, it’s basically a minor extension of the M3 with larger wheels and lower stance. Available for the coupe, sedan and cabrio, the new wheels are 19x9” wheels (style 359M) which take on the look of the old E46 M3 CSL. The vehicle’s been dropped 10mm to improve the handling and overall stance.
Upon delivery of the car, we also noticed a few different changes from the standard M3 such as the half cloth, half leather seats. The ZCP is also equipped with plastic dash trim instead of the typical carbon parts, plus it also has the widescreen nav with multi-button I-drive. Surprisingly, the M3’s been stripped of its Bluetooth in this model which disappointed us.
EDC has been improved on for the ZCP with a more aggressive Sport mode. It’s been adjusted to the chassis via map-based control and driving stability control functions.
The rest of the car remains fairly true to the original M3 spec. The motor remains the 414hp, 295 lb-ft 4.0-liter V8. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is also available but for our project car we opted for the six-speed manual.
Over the next year, stay tuned as we try a series of aftermarket parts on the M3 from wheels, tires, suspension, intake, exhaust and software. We’ll also dab into the exterior and interior bits as well. In particular, installed carbon trim to rid the interior of its cheap plastic.
