We’ve died and gone to wheel heaven. Well, almost… This week, we made our first ever visit to VR Wheels in City of Industry, CA. The company has been in the wheel business for ten years importing rare wheels directly from Japan.
VR carries the best brands from BBS, SSR, Advan, Work, Leon Harditt, Hamann, Rays Engineering and more. Because all the wheels are mostly discontinued, most of the inventory is previously owned. This means not every wheel is 100% perfect. Some wheels might have rock chips; some lips might have curb rash, paint chipping, etc. VR has the expertise to recondition the wheels or you can purchase your wheels and do the work yourself if you want so save a few bucks.
Perhaps the biggest downside is most the wheels are 5x114.3 fitment – the bolt pattern of most Japanese cars. But VR offers a drilling service that can change any wheel into 5x100, 4x100, 5x112 or 5x120 bolt patterns. This service starts at $140.
So if you’re in the SoCal area, give them a call and setup an appointment to check out their inventory. You might walk away with some of the most extraordinary wheels to hit the US Euro scene. All of VR Wheels’ inventory is also posted on its website at vrwheels.com
Stay tuned for our mesh wheel guide in the December 2010 issue of eurotuner. VR was kind of enough to let us borrow four of its best wheels for the guide.
