Today we were visited by Autoglym, a car care company based in the UK. Its products are highly rated in Europe, and have been one of the top-selling brands for some time.

Beginning in November ’09, seven of its products have reached the US market, with eight more coming in the near future. The Autoglym representative gave us a quick introduction to the line and gave us a hands-on demonstration of what they had to offer.

The Autoglym line includes several surface-specific cleaners, ranging from a basic “shampoo & conditioner” as the Brits call it, to the best-selling Super Resin Polish and the High Definition Wax, with options in between.

For the demo, an associate of ours brought his car, and boy, it was a perfect candidate for cleaning products. Not having time to fully wash the car, the rep quickly cleaned one side with Autoglym’s Rapid Detailer. This did a good job of removing the dirt and grime, but the rough paint and oxidation was still clear.

He then hit the paint, first with Super Resin Polish to bring out the shine that had been lost. The HD Wax restored the shine and was very easy to both apply and remove.

The wheels on the car were caked in brake dust, but wasn’t a problem for Autogylm’s Custom Wheel Cleaner. We were again impressed with the results from just a few sprays.

The rep also applied some Instant Tyre Dressing, left it to dry and produced a great shine without the streakiness you get from some other products.

He continued in other areas, using products like the Interior Shampoo, special Bumper Care for harsh fading and oxidation, and even Fast Glass.
