Anaheim California - Saturday August 6
This summer, SpoCom again invaded the Anaheim Convention Center with an inevitable outcome: a full suite of the industry’s top brands and media, not to mention some of the nation’s top show cars competing for one of the most prestigious trophies in the country.
Known not only for its cars, the show also boasts creative performers and a bikini contest, making it one of the industry’s most entertaining car shows.
Presented with the opportunity to attend SpoCom, we enthusiastically jumped at the opportunity. Once inside the venue, however, it was noticeably smaller than its previous Long Beach location.
Fortunately, Europrojektz immediately grabbed our attention, placed at the front of the main hall. Among its members was Fern Mora, standing proudly by his 2002 BMW 330ci in Lamborghini Viola Ophelia paint. This BMW was last featured in eurotuner magazine in 2006, and since then it has come a long way, with new modifications supplying 296.55whp at 6.8 lb of boost. Not to anyone’s surprise, the car won Best in Show at this year’s West Coast Bimmerfest event.
Walking around Spocom, we noticed several VW Bugs and a nicely M3 with titanium exhaust, four-point roll-bar and AEM AFR/boost gauge. Just around the corner was Albert Mahoney’s custom 2001 VW Passat that’s appeared in movies and music videos.
As you might expect, Spocom brings a diverse crowd of European and Japanese imports, but everybody has a good time and enjoys the combination of girls, cars, music and entertainers. If you missed this event, it might be a good idea to mark your calendar for next year.
