Plans for the celebrations and activities are underway for the Ford-Cobra-Shelby Reunion, which is scheduled to take place in Pomona, CA on April 19-21, 2012.
The latest news from the organizers is that they've managed to secure not one but two King Cobras for this very special event. "Getting two King Cobras to a single event is very exciting. Only eight King Cobras and they represent a short but exciting chapter in the Cobra story." said Lynn Park, guest curator of the 50th Anniversary Cobra exhibit, which is scheduled to open April 20 at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum in Pomona, CA to support with the Ford-Cobra-Shelby Reunion.
Owners Bill and Evelyn Hartman, and Donn Vickery, will bring the two King Cobras to the Reunion. The Hartman's car was driven to victory by the late Dave MacDonald at the 1963 LA Times Grand Prix at Riverside as well as at the '63 Monterey Pacific Grand Prix at Laguna Seca. While Vickery's car (chassis # CM 6/64) was driven to victory by Parnelli Jones in the LA Times Grand Prix at Riverside in October '64.
"We're extremely excited about the addition of these two significant King Cobras to the Reunion," commented Parks Museum director Tony Thacker. "This is going to be an exciting event, with more Cobras coming out of the woodwork than you can shake a stick at!"
Scheduled for April 19-21, the Ford-Cobra-Shelby Reunion is a three-day funfest for all Cobras, Ford and Ford-powered vehicles, including the GT40 and Ford GT as well as all Shelby vehicles.
The list of activities is still being developed but will include:

* A new exhibit honoring the Cobra's 50th birthday (Lynn Park, curator)
* A banquet honoring Carroll Shelby.
* Show 'n Shine organized by Team Shelby Pacific Coast Region
