We don’t usually do this, because our project cars don’t often come up for sale. However, we’re helping out the owner of the 2007 Audi A3 2.0T we’ve been using for a series of project builds. They’ve bought another car and want to sell the A3.
Rather than allow it to disappear, we’re offering it to a eurotuner reader first; somebody who might appreciate a well modified, carefully maintained car.
All the modifications have been carried out under our supervision by leading VW/Audi specialists. Everything has been documented and is available in the Tech section here at www.eurotuner.com for reference. All engine mods were dyno tested.
The first mods were H&R coilovers – these are height adjustable. The car sits low but can be raised. It doesn’t foul the 19x8.5” TSW Nurburgring wheels or 225/35 R19 Continental ExtremeContact DW tires.
Originally the car had 235/35 tires but there was slight rubbing on the rear so the new tires were fitted about 500 miles ago. The suspension has been on for about 20k miles.
The wheels were fitted using a Raven Motorsport wheel stud kit. These are designed to make it easier to fit the wheels at the track. The car has never been used on the track though…
Next we fitted a JOM S3-style badgeless grille. This has no chrome so give the car a cleaner, darker look in collaboration with the legal tinted side/rear windows.
Inside, we swapped the black interior trim for genuine aluminum-carbon Audi RS3 interior trim pieces. These are from the European RS3 model and look great on the car. There is a slight gap around the gear shift surround which can be easily filled or overlooked.
On the 2.0T engine, we added Revo Technick stage one software. The Tech articles for the engine tuning are in the latest March 2012 issue, although they possibly haven't been placed online yet at www.eurotuner.com. However, we can report the software gave us best increases of 35whp and 52 lb-ft
We then fitted a stainless steel cat-back exhaust from Euro Sport Accessories that saved a lot of weight and added best gains of 14.2whp and 13.8 lb-ft.
Next up was a Turbo Discharge Pipe, Charge Pipe, Power Pulley and P-Flo intake kit; all from Neuspeed. These parts added another 13.3whp and 11.3 lb-ft.
All told, the engine upgrades increased engine output by 35hp and 52 lb-ft at the wheels, giving a huge mid-range punch to the engine. It also sounds great without being too loud and the Neuspeed intake is CARB-approved (with a sticker) so you won’t be getting tickets.
The original wheels, tires, wheel bolts, suspension, grille, exhaust, intake, charge/discharge pipes and pulley are available to the purchaser if you want them.
2007 Audi A3 2.0T in Brilliant black with six-speed manual and 88,700 miles on the clock.
All maintenance has been performed regularly by Audi dealerships, has a clean title (no salvage/junk).
During its time with the current owner there was one minor accident that scratched the rear bumper. This was repaired by the insurance company at an Audi bodyshop. There are two “quarter-sized” door dings and two small scuffs on the roof. Photos available upon request.
Shortly after the engine tuning was carried out, the car was parked and its replacement used so all parts on the car are new and in perfect condition.
The owner is looking for $15,500 OBO.
The car is located in the Los Angeles area.
