A new iPhone app enables fans to record the first-ever lap of the DeltaWing

Nissan has put a huge emphasis on innovation and progression, from their road cars to the racetrack. With the first lap of DeltaWing being a groundbreaking moment for the Nissan team, they teamed up with a new startup, Vyclone, who released an iPhone app that stitches videos together from different users.

With the first ever lap of the DeltaWing taking place at the Le Mans 24 Hour race on the 8.5 mile La Sarthe Circuit in France, Vyclone’s new app enabled 16 crowd-sourced videos to be automatically stitched from different track locations to create seamless coverage of the DeltaWing. Sure, it’s no hi-def GoPro video, but as far as event coverage goes, Vyclone’s software is undeniably innovative, and with a unique beast like the DeltaWing, such collaboration is more than appropriate. Crowd-sourced video should be raw and authentic, and Nissan’s result is prime example.

David Parkinson, General Manager of Social & Digital Engagement, Nissan in Europe, said: "Nissan put a huge amount behind its Le Mans campaign this year, more so than ever before. Nissan's Le Mans was all about innovation, new technology and bringing to life the excitement and passion of the race for the fans.”

To keep the crowd’s eyes on Nissan, the Juke R was also on display, alongside its polar opposite, the Juke Box—the world’s most powerful mobile audio system from partner Ministry of Sound.
