It seems like we've been talking about it for months and finally, DiRT Showdown is in stores across North America.
To mark the release, Codemasters has released a high-energy launch video featuring full-throttle, tire-shredding, panel-smashing gameplay.
As we stated before in our game preview here at www.eurotuner.com, Showdown isn't your regular DiRT title. It is less of a race sim and more of a destruction derby. In fact, destruction derby is one of the playing modes that bring elements like figure-8 racing, vehicle sumo wrestling and Gymkhana-style stunting to your game console.
The launch video showcases the maximum-impact racing and destruction game modes plus the freestyle Hoonigan events and multiplayer party games in DiRT Showdown's World Tour.
From Miami to LA, San Francisco to Yokohama, the trailer features drivers taking out their rivals, boosting to overtake, hitting jumps, performing stunts and sending friends a Showdown Challenge as they go for the win in DiRT Showdown's range of racing modes.
Players are also invited to sign up for RaceNet, the free online extension for Codemasters Racing games that tracks and rewards a player's achievements.
RaceNet launched in beta alongside the DiRT Showdown demo and new features include players being invited to take part in regular community challenges and RaceNet events. There's also the ability to add other RaceNet members as friends. Players can enjoy the new features by registering at www.racenet.com
DiRT Showdown delivers a world of competitive and combative racing as players compete, crash and hoon to the "Showdown" finals to perform in front of thousands of fans.
The game is available now on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
