 The Northeast's Annual Last Hoorah...

On a gray Saturday, beneath the approaching shadow of Hurricane Sandy, European car enthusiasts set their storm preparations aside to gather and celebrate their passion at the 2nd Annual DubRun.  The event, hosted by Garden State Euros (GSE) with support from title sponsors such as APR Tuning, Redline Speed Worx, and Vortex Media Group, was created as a "last hoorah" of the season for the Tri-State area. DubRun was designed to be a casual gathering to enjoy the cars and camaraderie of our scene one final time before salty roads, snow tires and temperatures lower than our rides roll in with the winter months.  Building on the success of the last year's inaugural event through the famous Hawk's Nest in Port Jervis, NY, the GSE organizers decided to take the event into the nearby Pocono's and set up shop at the Barley Creek Brewery.

With ample parking, a restaurant, brewery, outdoor pavilion and a "Pint Size Park" (complete with regulation wiffle ball field!) the stage was inevitably set for a great time. Fire pits burned to keep everyone warm while a pig roast kept folks well fed. This year’s entry to DubRun was free, attendees were just asked to participate in a winter clothing drive coordinated between GSE and the Salvation Army who conveniently provided an onsite box truck for the donations.  DJ Pirate mixed a great selection of music while M.Spad Photography and R.K.R. Video Productions were onsite providing media coverage of the event.

The main cruise left from North Jersey and headed west on Rt. 80 into Pennsylvania against the Northeast’s spectacular backdrop of fall foliage. The route then passed by the famous Pocono International Speedway as drivers enjoyed the twists and turns of the Pennsylvania back roads.  As the event drew near, various other cruises popped up on the message boards from surrounding areas, resulting in multiple caravans converging in Tannersville, PA by noon that day.

GSE introduced a show car contest format this year, broken out by manufacturer with piston shaped/style trophies recognizing the top Audi, BMW, Mercedes, MINI & VW, as well as a “Best in Show” honor. A few lighter categories also appeared, including “Best in Low” for those committed to static ride heights, pulled/rolled/scarred fenders and dented oil pans as well as the coveted “Brazilian” celebrating whoever has the worst, or in this case the best, carnauba addiction.

GSE put together some heavy swag bags filled with promo materials from the numerous event sponsors for everyone who showed up. Onsite representation from title sponsor Redline Speed Worx, as well as KrautoParts, Linden Volkswagen/HPA, Magic4Dents, Need Powder Coating?,  South Bend Clutch, StickerBombNJ and VWVenison gave show-goers plenty of opportunity to view products, ask questions and make purchases.  Other sponsors included ATP Turbo, Auto Haas, BSH, Clutchmasters, Detailer's Domain, EBC Brakes, European Car Magazine/EuroTuner Online, Fluidampr, Forge Motorsports, KW Suspension, NGP Performance, OSIR, Peloquin Differentials, Privat Wheels, Team EuroTrash and  The event wrapped up with a massive raffle that included over 50 prizes from all sponsors, including ECU flashes, clutch kits, intakes, sway bars, detailing kits, and much more.

As the skies grew increasingly dark and the last of the cars rolled out, the organizers looked back on the day as a great success with the event having seen increases in both attendance and quality.  DubRun has seemed to have found a permanent home with Barley Creek and preparations have already begun for next year’s event.  Plans to expand the show car contest categories, as well as introduce a few more events and activities throughout the day are already under way. DubRun 2013 should not be missed!
