German tuner Wheelsandmore has produced what must be the first modified version of the new McLaren MP4-12C sports car. With its bigger wheels, lowered ride height and engine tuning, they’ve produced an interesting package for the mid-engined British exotic.
With its twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine, the McLaren’s 600hp factory output is certainly sufficient for most occasions, but Wheelsandmore increased it to 666hp and 470 lb-ft of torque.
The extra grunt is courtesy of a handcrafted exhaust system and new software. The full exhaust is built from stainless steel, which is claimed to save weight over the stock system. Contributing almost 20hp, it’s available with remote-control exhaust flaps that can be opened to increase the noise level.
It’s also possible to add 200-cell sport catalysts to the company’s exhaust to further reduce back pressure.
The software tuning is available in two stages. The first increases power to 650hp and 460 lb-ft, while stage two hits the previously mentioned 666hp when the exhaust is fitted as well.
If that isn’t enough, Wheelsandmore also claims to be testing a turbo and intercooler upgrade, said to take power up to 800hp!
Although the McLaren MP4-12C is fitted with a complex electronic hydraulic suspension system, Wheelsandmore has lowered the system another 1” with a set of coil springs.
Finally, the company has looked at various wheel offerings, starting with 6Sporz ² ultra-lightweight forged wheels. These are 20x9” front and 21x12” rear with 245/30 R20 and 325/25 R21 Continental Sport Contact 5P tires respectively.
The wheels are complimented by a colored trim line as well as the company’s logo, but can be customized to a customer’s specification, including carbon-look centers, painted rims and colored inlays.
